The latest issue of Terrorizer (available in stores now) features my photos of one of the most exciting shows this year – Meshuggah vs Devin Townsend Project. I posted the published page last week, but also wanted to share with you some others that I took that night, it was a killer show and the lighting was great too! It was a first for me to see Meshuggah live. Certainly not a disappointment – energetic, dark, and precise are the words that spring to mind. Their set was flawless. Totally happy they played ‘Demiurge‘ a it’s one of my faves. Devin loved the two guys dressed in the Pikachu and Stitch onesies, so their sweltering at the front barrier all through Meshuggah’s set paid off! The sound and visuals during The Devin Townsend Project were immense. Not to mention the set closer – ‘Grace’ – that had a mass of red and white choir shirts fill the stage and join in. Was great to experience that show. One of my favourites this year so far. Mx
YES! We are back for another fun day which I’m so pleased about. The last Makeover + Shoot Day was a lot of fun, and I loved to see the ladies so happy with their hair, makeup and pictures. ESO have been teasing everyone for the past month or so with a name change (formerly esOterica), promo pictures, website re-vamp and music video trailers like this All leading to a sold out Special Album Preview show last week that I was more than happy to attend on an extremely hot evening in Soho, London. Everyone was very tightly packed together, including the gear on the tiny stage. Thank goodness the venue was air conditioned! A small LED sign fixed centre stage that read ‘ESO’ flickered sporadically before showtime – like a curtain call, enticing everyone to grab a drink and head for a good view. They played for just over half an hour and showed the video for their new single. It’s hard to believe ESO haven’t played live in a year, it was evident they enjoyed being back on stage again. Reading all the feedback on their Facebook page from this show, it’s safe to say they have every one chomping at the bit. Good job that yesterday they announced a UK tour for July! Photography leads me on such varied assignments and it’s brilliant. My last post was on a Vintage Lingerie launch and the day before that I was in a cold, dark, abandoned warehouse in Hackney, shooting stills for ESO‘s up and coming music video. Both days excited me equally and in different ways. Along with shooting promos and stills, I got to watch and learn from Tim Fox – Motion Designer, Director and Illustrator, whose client list varies from Lady Gaga and Ms Dynamite to Skindred and Alice Cooper. What a treat! I arrived when they were on the last couple of full live band takes and got straight to work People don’t always realise the work that goes into music videos, and how many takes of the same thing – over and over again. To still keep a performance “fresh” as if it was the first time I would imagine is really difficult. They were so energetic on every take! It’s no wonder that shortly after, they took a break for lunch having been hard at work since 8:30am, and we had a look around for some cool spots to do pictures with what light was there.
