Sonisphere Festival 2014

Sonisphere rocked! Too many stories to share, and a load of bands photographed! Some of them I can’t post here as they will be printed in Terrorizer Magazine first. But in the meantime, here is the Festival in pictures through my eyes.   Before Metallica took the stage, the fans at the barrier decided to chant my name. I made a video of it! (Though it does actually sound like ‘Murray’ rather than ‘Marie’) An absolute blast! Can’t wait to share with you my live pics, of Metallica in particular! Mx

Heaven is a Place for Thrash?

Exhumed founding member, Matt Harvey, is interviewed surrounding the band’s 6th studio album release ‘Necroracy‘┬áin the latest issue of Terrorizer Magazine (#239). I shot with him for the feature and we had a good old natter. After a stint of European shows, watching Iron Maiden in Amsterdam, then onto London during the 2 week break – for the feature shoot and some time out, before going back out on the road, Matt was on around 4 days/nights with very little sleep. Of course he demanded beer before we got started. He sank 2 of the bastards before I even made a test shot! 3 Things you didn’t know about Matt Harvey: On tour, Matt states that he’s ‘Vegan’. “It means we get more of a varied, healthy diet” he said. Though when the band received a buy-out, Matt headed to the nearest steak house, salivating, and he got found out! He went on to tell me that he enjoys cooking, especially hot/spicy dishes. Matt suggested the ‘Psycho Nuts’ that I told you guys about the other week, could be used in an Oriental style meal with chicken, rice, ginger… (he then reeled off a very impressive list of herbs and […]

LIVE: The Temperance Movement, London UK

Wednesday night, I went to the Scala in London to snap The Temperance Movement’s (TTM) show. I first heard these guys last year when Glen (The Husband) had listened to a track of theirs on Planet Rock Radio, came home and immediately bought the Pride E.P. from iTunes. We followed TTM ever since, and I was looking forward to the opportunity of shooting a live show. Their blues-drenched soulful rock ‘n’ roll sound appeals to me just as much as a good heavy rock/metal show. At the end of last month TTM signed to Earache Records shortly after doing a couple of UK shows supporting their-now label buddies Rival Sons. It really was no surprise that they were snapped up fast. Their 12 song set was packed full of energy, swagger and guitar tones to die for from start to end. TTM remind me of those Rock ‘n’ Roll greats (Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones) where their performance is like one big jamming session that’s a joy and a priviledge to be a part of. Frontman Phil Campbell had the packed venue in the palm of his hand. Imagine the stage presence of Mick Jagger, with a manner like Larry Grayson, […]

LIVE: Meshuggah vs Devin Townsend, London UK

The latest issue of Terrorizer (available in stores now) features my photos of one of the most exciting shows this year – Meshuggah vs Devin Townsend Project. I posted the published page last week, but also wanted to share with you some others that I took that night, it was a killer show and the lighting was great too! It was a first for me to see Meshuggah live. Certainly not a disappointment – energetic, dark, and precise are the words that spring to mind. Their set was flawless. Totally happy they played ‘Demiurge‘ a it’s one of my faves. Devin loved the two guys dressed in the Pikachu and Stitch onesies, so their sweltering at the front barrier all through Meshuggah’s set paid off! The sound and visuals during The Devin Townsend Project were immense. Not to mention the set closer – ‘Grace’ – that had a mass of red and white choir shirts fill the stage and join in. Was great to experience that show. One of my favourites this year so far. Mx
