Godsized – London Revelation

Godsized are on tour with My Ruin around the UK at the moment for the Southern Revelation Tour. I went along to their London date to do some promos and snap some live pics. Around last year I was at the Scala for a different show and spotted a really cool location for a photo shoot. So while the other bands were sound checking, I set up in a stair well with really huge windows on a curved wall, along with a mosaic tiled floor. Really unusual. Here’s one of the final shots (click to view larger) Godsized kicked serious ass live. It was a very different crowd as My Ruin have a particular kind of following, but the guys went down really well. Here’s a few live pics They have just over a week left on the tour. Check here for a list of the remaining dates and also their up-and-coming dates including their Mini Tour of Europe in April. Also, they have a Special Limited Edition Tour T-Shirt – only available while they’re on the road. It has all the show dates on the back. 18 – 22 JUNE 2009, HELLFEST, CLISSON – FRANCE

Firstly I was very fortunate to even make Hellfest. I had my ears syringed and unfortunately the doctor didn’t do it correctly resulting in a perforation in my left ear drum. An infection got in which left me with a swollen face, couldn’t eat or anything and some hearing impairment which I’m hoping will heal. I was on codeine and paracetamol and 3 lots of strong antibiotics. Still, me being a stubborn me bought some pro earplugs and went on my way to France – after all I had it all booked and wasn’t going to miss out.

I initially was to write a diary-like entry on here but didn’t want to bore you all with my drivel. So here’s the festival trip in brief: THURSDAY/FRIDAY…. • Killer of a journey – 11 hours all told from London – Lille – Kortrijk – Clisson. • Glorious sunshine and very impressive visuals at the festival. Arrived slightly later into the Friday – Buckcherry were on and playing ‘Crazy Bitch’. What a nice welcome :) • Friday I shot – Voivod, W.A.S.P., Anthrax, Papa Roach and Down • Hung with Parkway Drive who are awesome dudes. I think they used their meal tickets […]

ALL HOPE IS GONE TOUR, LONDON UK

At the Hammersmith Apollo with Machine Head supporting Slipknot was great! I arrived early into Machine Head’s press schedule and hung with Al in the Production Office while I waited for Phil to finish up and interview. Dave walked in with a huge smile and we hugged and caught up before he has to go and have his hourly fix of Starbucks. It was so cold here for him that he put on the thickest winter coat with fur trim before he braves the elements. I was just in a vest and jacket, but then again he is from Alameda, California so I couldn’t really blame him. Phil finishes up and gets ready for the shoot, looking at the new Ed Stone designs he’s going to wear. He suggested posing with his new Jackson custom with ram’s horns at the 12th fret. Of course I was up for that and we did the shoot. I did wonder afterwards about the hair band over his fingers like that but forgot to ask in the rush of everything. I will find out for you, if you’re intrigued like me. Back in the Production Office, Cheeky got the set lists ready and sorted […]

22 – 24 JUNE, HELLFEST, CLISSON – FRANCE

My first festival abroad and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, gathering my thoughts on my return I have learnt a lot about culture, language barriers and myself. Setting off from Stansted Airport, London the weather was beautiful. Talita, Rachel and I were all in high spirits and even met some UK festival go-ers on the plane! We land in France and the weather is blustery and threatening. We were met by JP one of Talita’s friends and were taken to the festival location to meet the crew and set up the press area. Nicely decorated with decking, funky lights and felt floor decorations – the art guys there did a very good job. It was a shame that in the next hour it would all be totally ruined. With torrential rain, in a matter of moments, the place was flooded. Talita, Rachel and I had to pull up all the felt decorations and sweep the water out of the press area to save the electric cables that were running for the laptops etc. The French were not happy. Rachel and I have no idea what they said, but Talita tried to appease them while they shouted and pointed, […]
