LIVE: Meshuggah vs Devin Townsend, London UK

The latest issue of Terrorizer (available in stores now) features my photos of one of the most exciting shows this year – Meshuggah vs Devin Townsend Project. I posted the published page last week, but also wanted to share with you some others that I took that night, it was a killer show and the lighting was great too! It was a first for me to see Meshuggah live. Certainly not a disappointment – energetic, dark, and precise are the words that spring to mind. Their set was flawless. Totally happy they played ‘Demiurge‘ a it’s one of my faves. Devin loved the two guys dressed in the Pikachu and Stitch onesies, so their sweltering at the front barrier all through Meshuggah’s set paid off! The sound and visuals during The Devin Townsend Project were immense. Not to mention the set closer – ‘Grace’ – that had a mass of red and white choir shirts fill the stage and join in. Was great to experience that show. One of my favourites this year so far. Mx

Published Update – USA, UK, RUSSIA!

What a crazy busy time recently! I have so much to share with you all – Birthdays, Photo Shoots, Download Festival, and Golden Gods. But first, a little update on some published work. After my shoot with Phil Demmel in Brighton, Jasckon USA got in touch to use one of my shots for their new brochure! Their album was released with Terrorizer Magazine last month, and is getting rave reviews. L Sol Tace ‘Carcass of Eternity’ Album Sleeve Photography The beardtastic Godsized appeared in Powerplay Magazine with a review of their debut album ‘Time’ Powerplay Magazine, Issue 153, pg 46 Mordecai centerfold album sleeve for ‘Undaunted’, Promotional Flyer, and Advert in Metal Hammer July Issue 121 pg 245 We shot these images at the Catacombs, South Norwood, when I was 7 months pregnant. It was freezing below ground, we were told not to touch the open coffins as they would be carrying the smallpox virus and various other diseases. Marta – Farewell Europe 2013

Marta Demmel was in London with her band Bleeding Through for their final ever UK show last month. I met with her before the carnage to hang out and shoot some pics After 14 years, 7 studio albums and countless shows, it was a very emotional day for the whole band. But Marta and I found plenty to laugh about. We also talked about her really cool necklace (which has Phil’s guitar pick in a silver plectrum holder), and life being a ‘tour widow’, something which I can understand when Glen is away for different lengths of time. The live show was immense, sweaty, energetic, and damn right brutal. My only way out from taking pictures at the front was to be carried through along the moving bodies that were packed so tightly together. At that moment, I was really hoping there wasn’t going to be a circle pit! Backstage during support bands (This or the Apocalypse, and Hand of Mercy) the air was filled with upbeat conversation, and friendliness to anyone that walked in. From Snakebite to Stoneghost

South London riff-machine Snakebite decided upon a name change (partly due to a Whitesnake tribute band of the same name) and booked me for a batch of new pictures. I jumped at the chance. Having seen these guys before and knowing frontman Jason for a few years, they are the most energetic and fun guys to be around. This of course had to come across in the promo pictures too… ..cue beard stroke from guitarist Andrew The first set of promos were shot at sunset in February. It was freezing, Jason had cut his hand on a wayward tree-hanging crate, we ran through a graveyard, a very boggy field and we were against the clock. The guys totally rocked it though BAM! This picture was literally as the sun hit the horizon and it created the most awesome flare. I love it when things like that happen and nature is on your side. I know, I know, we were talking about energy being portrayed in the shoot weren’t we. Well the 2nd shoot had lots of that! I can honestly tell you I haven’t laughed so much in a shoot either.
