Hello and Happy New Year! Hope you all enjoyed the festivities and celebrations! Just before Christmas I ran a giveaway competition – a chance to win a signed poster of Simone Simons who was Miss December in the Dolls ‘n’ Divas 2011 Calendar. I was overwhelmed with all your entries – well into the hundreds and all with the right answer ( I think maybe I will make it a bit more difficult next time ;) ). Thank you all for entering! The correct answer was of course Kathleen Turner, who did the speaking voice for Jessica Rabbit in the movie ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’. The lucky winner is Doug Yauch from Minnesota, USA. Your poster is on its way with warm wishes from Simone! Congratulations! — Just before I log off for the day, I wanted to let you in on some of the fun that we had in making the Calendar. A couple of collages of the ‘best bits’ once the serious work was out of the way….mostly! You can click on the images to view our silly faces larger. There will be a couple more pieces of news to come soon from the 2011 Dolls ‘n’ Divas […]
A little into December but definitely worth the wait! Simone Simons is the hottie this month and a great way to end the year on the Dolls ‘n’ Divas Calendar. My inspiration for this shoot was Jessica Rabbit from the movie ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’, with Simone’s striking red hair it was perfect! Using a still from the movie, we created a scene for the shoot too Simone wore a red satin halter dress from Vivien of Holloway and her was hair styled by Marino Lambrix. Along with singing and writing for her band Epica, Simone loves all things photography, fashion and makeup related too – she did her own makeup for the calendar shoot. You can check out her personal blog here. To celebrate the end of the year I’m having a giveaway! You can win an A2 poster print (measures 420mm x 594mm) signed by Simone – it will be the image of Simone sitting on the green sofa mentioned in the above post. To enter: Answer the following question: Who did the speaking voice of Jessica Rabbit in ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’? Please send your answers to firstname.lastname@example.org with ‘Simone Giveaway‘ in your subject header. Entries must […]
It’s official. The clocks have gone back here in the UK – the nights will be drawing in and the temperature dropping as we prepare ourselves for winter. If you’ve purchased my Dolls ‘n’ Divas Calendar, you will be looking at the stunning and mysterious Amber Erlandsson (also know in in the alternative modeling world as Morrigan Hel). She is dressed in military inspired corset outfit by Velda Lauder. Amber fronts Metal band Nemhain and also runs the photo studio used for this shoot – Murder Mile. She’s a rather talented and fun person to be around! Amber’s hair styled by the wonderful Sherri Sue Liberatori from Diamond Dolls Boutique, London. This was one of my favourite shoots from the calendar as it explored the less girly side of the 50’s pin up modeling. I also can’t help but like the smell of a burning cigar! Amber was such a pro that we only needed one for the shoot, and thankfully the smoke alarms in the studio were turned off! Only one more month left to reveal now… I wonder who it could be? Mx
The first few days of October felt like summer at almost 80 degrees, so I actually refused to believe it was actually October until today! Model, Burlesque Performer and Seamstress are just a few of the talents of Miss Bruise Violet – the lady that graces the month of October on the Dolls ‘n’ Divas Calendar. Wearing a handmade dress with a thigh-high side split to show off her awesome spooky Halloween tattoo, it’s clear why she is Miss October. Miss Bruise Violet has her own clothing label ‘Sucker for a Heartbeat’ and performs her Burlesque routine across the UK. I have no doubt she will be traveling further afield very soon. Check out her website for all the latest! My amazing team on Hair and Makeup was Marino Lambrix and Julie Cooper. It was probably one of the funniest shoots and I have so many outtakes and behind the scenes images. Here’s one of my favourites. It was so hot that day that Marino had to use one of the props in the dressing room to fan her. Everyone at the Calendar Launch last year caught her sexy routine at the London Tattoo Convention. Here’s the clip so you […]
Can you believe it’s September already? This year has flown by! It feels like forever ago since this shoot with beautiful Bella for the Dolls ‘n’ Divas Calendar. You all get to look at her for this month. It was such a pretty and giggly shoot, actually shot at my in-laws bedroom. They had such a lovely 1950’s setting with all the little nick nacks and a kidney shaped dresser that was perfect for the shoot. Bella comes from New Zealand and is a dab hand at makeup; having her work published worldwide in magazines such as Vogue, Harpers and Elle along with working at MAC Cosmetics in Harrods, London along her journey. She has her own business – Bella Simonsen Makeup Artist Ltd – check out her work here. Her hair was styled by good friend Sherri Liberatori from Diamond Dolls Boutique London and lingerie provided by FairyGothMother/Lulu & Lush. I hope to have some news for you very soon on the future plans for Dolls ‘n’ Divas. Mx
Dolls ‘n’ Divas Calendar cover girl Tristen Lee is also the month of August! Tristen is co-founder of Bonkers Entertainment and Radio DJ at Total Rock. Wearing a chevron skirt, halter top and knickers by Edie Rocks at Diamond Dolls Boutique London. Her hair was styled also by Sherri-Sue at Diamond Dolls and makeup by the super talented Aussie Julie Cooper. The cute dog Rudy was hired from the owners of the photo studio for her cuteness – you can see why I couldn’t resist! 1950’s suitcases borrowed from Neil Fish, guitarist in Godsized. This shoot was an actual scorcher of a day, I remember it well, so it was very easy to pretend to be on vacation. Whatever your plans are for the Holidays, I hoe you have a great time! For more info on Dolls ‘n’ Divas please check out my picture and section on the lovely ladies. You can also visit the Official Website. It will be updated in the next few weeks. Mx
If you’ve got yourself one of my Dolls ‘n’ Divas 2011 Calendars, you will now be checking out the hot Miss July! A nice summer garden picnic setting, befitting of the weather lately. The lovely Ceri Cushen is the gorgeous month of July. Ceri is a London based hair artist whose recent artwork can be seen in Pirates of the Caribbean 4 – she made the dreadlocks for Keith Richards! She also did her own pinup style hair for the Calendar shoot and Ceri’s portfolio can be viewed in my favourite links section along with makeup artist Julie Cooper who also worked on this shoot. A great team!
