Marie Korner Photography's Frequently Asked Questions

What if it rains?

During your planning stage, we’ll talk about indoor and outdoor locations. Heavy rain is a problem, but a little drizzle makes for some lovely photos. Children get excited for rain and splashing in puddles (thanks Peppa Pig!). If the forecast changes drastically for your shoot day, the indoor location backup is there.

I don’t know how to pose

You don’t need to ‘pose’ for this style of photo session. I’ll find the right angles for you while you enjoy playing with your children.

Do you just turn up for photos and leave after 1 hour?

Definitely not. I love a good chat, and add in up to 30 mins complimentary time, to settle with you and your children even before taking the camera out.

Do I pay all up front?

A 50% deposit required at the time of booking, this is non-refundable as I’ll have started the preparation and planning chat with you for your session. The remainder of the fee is required 2 working days before your session date. I’m fully insured with both public liability and professional indemnity.

Do you find locations for me?

Yes. I recommend for you to have your session in a meaningful place to you and your family. Younger children tend to be more settled with a place that’s familiar to them. Otherwise there are some locations I’ve used before that we can go to. If you’d like me to source locations from scratch for you, this is at an additional fee.

My Home isn’t pretty like a Pinterest or Instagram home.

Even those homes online only look like that for 5 minutes. What do you remember about your childhood home? How clean and untouched it was, or a family home?

Can I choose my house or a location for the session?

It’s always great to have a backup plan (especially with the English weather). A place with lots of natural light is ideal. Spring, Summer and Autumn are great for shooting outdoors with all the different colours Winter is good for an indoor cosy session, or if there’s snow then outside is great fun!

What areas do you cover?

I’m based in East Sussex, so travel costs will be minimal in that area. Areas I cover are Sussex, Surrey, Tunbridge Wells, Croydon, and London. But of course travel further, please be aware that travel costs will be more expensive the further away you are. I do love an adventure!

What shouldn’t we wear?

Avoid very large branded logos. When we plan your session, we’ll talk about style and outfits.

How do you edit photos? I don’t like fake editing

I use natural editing techniques, and colour grading (meaning editing the colours to pop more). For skin, only a light airbrush to even skin tone and soften ‘lines’, but not remove them completely.

Can I buy more pictures?

Yes! Prices for prints and digital files are provided through the booking process.

Who do you suggest for printing my images?

Whoever you decide to print with, turning off the company’s ‘auto enhance’ setting is recommended. It’s used for amateur photos, and messes with the editing techniques used – your photos won’t look like they did when you sent them. Highly recommend Photobox.
