South London riff-machine Snakebite decided upon a name change (partly due to a Whitesnake tribute band of the same name) and booked me for a batch of new pictures. I jumped at the chance. Having seen these guys before and knowing frontman Jason for a few years, they are the most energetic and fun guys to be around. This of course had to come across in the promo pictures too… ..cue beard stroke from guitarist Andrew The first set of promos were shot at sunset in February. It was freezing, Jason had cut his hand on a wayward tree-hanging crate, we ran through a graveyard, a very boggy field and we were against the clock. The guys totally rocked it though BAM! This picture was literally as the sun hit the horizon and it created the most awesome flare. I love it when things like that happen and nature is on your side. I’m still buzzing from the show last night! The last time I saw Godsized play was the 2nd week into their 6 week UK and Europe Tour with Black Label Society. Super stoked to be celebrating the end of year show with them and also shoot pics with drummer – Dan – on his debut show. They’ve picked up quite a fair few fans on their way around Europe, including a guy who traveled from Kazakhstan to see them here in London. I was honoured to meet him. Playing on the same night as Steel Panther, Motley Crue and Def Leppard; Godsized still managed to pack the Borderline and ensure it would be a sweat-fest, with fans singing and shouting along, along with plenty of opportunities to eat your neighbours’ hair as it was being whipped around! Holed up in an old meat market in Croydon, South London for a day, I went along to do photo stills and a promo shoot with Godsized. I walk into 2 hours gone of filming, smoke, effects lighting and the track ‘Walking Away’ blaring – everyone is really upbeat about the day which was good news as everything was going well then. Sitting with my cup of tea and a bacon buttie I watch and grab an essence of the idea before I picked up my camera and started work. 5 hours later, it was a wrap. Everyone cold, tired, fed up with hearing ‘Walking Away’ for the millionth time and time for the promo shoot! They took 5 to rest up and we started shooting. Clearly fed up with performing, they needed to have a bit of a laugh before getting down to the serious pictures. Oh and there’s more than that. In fact I have a whole load of pictures of Godsized from the small beginnings and line up changes which I will eventually put online.
