Makeover + Shoot Day #3

Hello! I’m very excited to announce another Makeover + Shoot Day Our poster advert girl – Jenni – was on the very first Makeover Day, held almost a year ago. It was her very first shoot in front of a pro camera, let alone in a studio setting. Now look at her! :) These shoots are really great if you want to gather confidence in front of the camera, to dress up and try a completely different style, update your portfolio if you’re already a model, or if you want to buy a gift for your girlfriend, partner, wife, sister, friend, or even a treat for yourself. You get the idea.. This time, we have included a ‘before’ picture, so you can see what we do on these Special days. The £140 fee includes: Pre-shoot consultation with me to make sure you get the shoot, style and look that you’re after. Studio time in the setting of your choice, glass of red or white wine (or non-alcoholic drink if you prefer) as you arrive at the studio, your hair styled by Ceri and makeup applied by Amber, half hour shooting time with me for which you can change your outfit […]

Published in Austria!

Wild at Heart clothing store opened on Halloween and is the first of its’ kind in Vienna, Austria, with over 4,000 square feet of alternative goodness (imagine Camden in North London). Back in August, the owners flew over to London to shoot with me for the fashion campaign which involved all the store decor and promotion. They called in top London based alternative models Nina Kate, Hayley Leggs, Morrigan Hel, Dickie Smith and Shelly D’Inferno, and I used my great team on hair and makeup – Ceri Cushen and Stacey Frow (Stacey did makeup on Hayley & Dickie) I hope to visit the store at some point and take some pictures. But in the mean time, here’s some quick snaps they have taken. I was stoked to see the displays bigger than I thought they would be! (All snaps with credit to Wild at Heart, Vienna) Large window displays of each of the models. Huge canvas of Shelly D’Inferno and Morrigan Hel behind the till point Various images on Swing Tags Framed images throughout the store (Nina Kate & Shelly D’Inferno pictured) Images on red canvases also around the store Also on the flyer for their in-house tattoo and piercing […]

Cristina Scabbia collaborates with SCA!

I love it when I can finally share things that have been going on behind the scenes. This collaboration has been a few months in the making with emails and conversations. Finally we can share it. Seventh Circle Artworks are now working with Lacuna Coil‘s front-woman Cristina Scabbia! So exciting! SCA have issued a press release with details of the collaboration. Cristina is excited to be on board and has already discussed great ideas for her collection; which will be the first SCA release for 2013, and taking on a more feminine style. Cristina says, “I LOVE skulls but it would have to be something different, definitely not biker style but more classy…with balls!” We met up with her before Lacuna Coil’s sold out show, in London’s KoKo venue, for her initial photo shoot – the decor and layout was perfect for her style; red & black, velvet and quilted leather. Very decadent. (view from the desk during sound check) The ‘Ace of Spades‘ ring is proving a popular design at the moment, as you would have read from my previous post with Pepper Keenan and the Down shoot. Cristina wears it in the above photo, but this one is […]

Down – Year of XII Tour – London, UK

You know those moments when you can’t stop grinning? That was me last night. I was at the Roundhouse in Camden with Seventh Circle Artworks (SCA) shooting with both Down and their main support band Orange Goblin. In my time of shooting shows, I have snapped Orange Goblin live maybe 3 or 4 times, so was really looking forward to actually meeting them in person for a brief promo shoot. They were all quite happy despite not liking their pictures taken, just like many guys in bands I work with. They also joked about how all their promo pictures seem to be around or near a bar. After a couple of semi-serious poses I asked them to do something funny. The only thing they could come up with was to “punch Joe in the face!” Ben is a towering 6ft 4 (at least), but a very friendly guy with it. And yes, I would have needed a step ladder to speak to him at eye level. This is not a Marie’s eye view, but you get the idea on height ;) Oh yeah, In case you were wondering about the killer shirt Ben is wearing, it’s the latest SCA shirt […]

Happily Ever After?

What do you think would happen if fairytale characters met up to create a new story? Do you reckon they would get along and be friends? I was booked for a super fun shoot in the forest by one of my regular clients, this time as a birthday surprise for her friend. They dressed up as Snow White and Alice in Wonderland. Their story went something like this Mx

Hello Colour!

My friend Laura is in town! She’s over from Los Angeles and we always make a point of hanging out and doing a shoot together. The above picture was our last hang out/shoot. I was 8 months pregnant and we rocked a shoot in my home with a failing smoke machine. Like this :) This time, Laura wanted to update her portfolio, and I also wanted to shoot with her for a piece of advertising – you will see that very soon. My work at the moment seem to be inspired by the weather and the colours that it brings. The sun has made an appearance here in the UK, and that’s fine by me. It means I can have an excuse to get a little girly with my photos, which happens not so often with the genre that I work in. Hello colour!! As always, Laura is super fun to shoot with. She is one of the few people that can work it with a keytar, like she does in her 80’s band glam punk rock band ‘Ankh’ out in LA. If that’s not enough, she’s an endorsee of Roland. Laura told me of her ultimate ambition involving Steel […]

The one with the Fence

When it comes to location shoots, the weather can be a photographer’s best friend or worst enemy. London-based groove metal band L Sol Tace booked me for another promo shoot after a bit of a lineup change and a debut album in the making. We had previously shot in a dark venue and I said to the guys that it would be great to go to an outdoor location. They got back to me and said that near their rehearsal rooms “there’s this fence that’s kinda cool”. I laughed! Cool, a fence. Sorted! The weather that week was abysmal. Typical UK you may think. Actually, even worse, as by this point we would be basking in a little more sunshine than this. (Not edited at all and taken on my iPhone) I started setting up, the guys had a litre bottle of Jack Daniel’s in hand and they had already had a few beers during rehearsal. We kept watch on the weather and had to quickly grab everything and run inside the rehearsal rooms at the first sign of rain. It reminded me of this scene from Wayne’s World But with rain instead of cars obviously. Turns out, the moody […]
