THE BLACK CRUSADE, LONDON – UK

The Monday after the weekend before. I’m feeling a little under the weather as everything has caught up with me. 2 shows with Machine Head and a fistful of memories. Saturday I went along and met up with The Frontliners and some of the Machine Head crew. I didn’t’ have a ticket or pass but we managed to buy a spare that someone had and I watched from the highest point of Brixton Academy. As I was rocking out I spotted someone at the corner of my eye that was really familiar. After the show I went backstage to say hi to Machine Head who heard I was at the venue. They invited me to the after show at Sin club. Machine Head would meet us there and we would catch the tube. As we are walking along the oh-so familiar face walking with us was the guy that was standing beside me with his wife. It was Colin Richardson – best known for recording many Machine Head albums, Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold and more. We get chatting and he told me stories of being out in LA with Machine Head and dodging bullets on the way to the recording studio […]

16 – 18 AUGUST – BLOODSTOCK, DERBY – UK

A busy busy festival! Arriving the day before Showtime with the unsigned stage crew we had our own party on Wednesday after setting up the stage and rigging. Here’s the rest of the festival in brief as I was so busy on Main Stage, some Unsigned stage bands, backstage and the signing tent – a crazy time! Thursday – Photographed: Head On, Firewind, Kiuas and Testament live Signings – Chris Slade and Testament After I had photographed Testament’s first 3 songs I went back to Head-On’s dressing room and they were already drinking. Things got a bit crazy and the guys decided to feed Ross (the bass player) random things and I filmed it: VIDEO The night just got worse after that. Mark ended up being seen to by a paramedic as he wrestled someone to the ground badly and injured his hand. They drank vodka through their eyes and photographed each other going to the loo. HAHA. Friday – I was a bit knackered from the late night/early morning’s shenanigans. Got out of the tent to find the guys from Forever Never had arrived and I would be taking their pics after I have had breakfast and a damn […]

THRASH NIGHT, LIVERPOOL – UK

Exhausted! From a night of absolute mayhem. To Liverpool and back to London again in less than 24 hours for Earache Records ‘Thrash Night’ that was filmed for a DVD release. In short (as i can’t even string a sentence together properly) I went with Talita and Louise, many interviews with Evile and Municipal Waste, fan pictures, promo pictures. Then the live show which was SO brutal I just about managed to escape with my camera intact and almost all of my dignity. I had a decapitated pigs head shoved in my face by SSS got soaked in beer and ate a Burger King. Louise and I were so tired on the way home we listened to Heart 106.2 on the radio or something and sang along to cheesy songs. That didn’t stop Louise from filling up with petrol at the station halfway home with the radio AND the engine on!! That’s how tired we were. Pictures speak a thousand words. Here we go…

13TH – 15TH JULY 2007, GUILFEST, UK

A real mix of a festival, being quite family orientated so I secured the Rock Sound Tent for the few days and just focussed on that. Lovely weather and a great vibe, the Rock Sound tent was always busy in the day and absolutely rammed in the evenings. I met up with a few photographer friends and we chilled in the “backstage” area (being some rolled up mats and a little peace and quiet. A few of the bands on the bill I was looking forward to photograph. One band wasn’t on this particular stage, good friends of mine – Sym-Choon – they were on the 2nd stage so I whizzed over to them to photograph their set. Other than that; great friends Sennah, Exit Ten and Orange Goblin were at the Rocksound stage. To sum up the weekend I’ve made a montage of each day’s favourite shots I took. The colours are as vibrant as the festival was – that’s the best way I can describe it. A real buzz and I’d happily photograph there again. But definitely just the Rock stage I think.
