My 8 Festival Must-Haves

I’m off to work at Sonisphere festival this weekend!

Ugh. That word conjures up feelings of excitement and dread.

Mainly it’s the showers and toilets for me. Y’know, when you are just about to go to sleep, and got warm in your sleeping bag. Then…damn! I need the loo!
Also the showers. You only allow your nearest and dearest to see you looking like that first thing in the morning, let alone queuing for half hour. Fuck that.
Oh, and the idea of how many different ways you can wear the same underwear in order to keep your packing to a minimum. Guys, please tell me it’s just you lot that do that.

I’m no Bear Grylls, but I have mastered a way to make festivals work for me. Well at least I’m hoping.

Bearing in mind I’m actually taking my camera gear as I will be working (this is actually taking up over half of my suitcase) there isn’t much room for a wardrobe full of clothes, lots of makeup and toiletries. Especially when making room for the obligatory bottle of Jack Daniels.

I have however, had a few ideas. Maybe they’ve been done before, I don’t know:

If you have a pilates mat, it can double up as a sleeping bag mat so the hard ground doesn’t give you backache. They’re also a lot thicker than the normal sleeping bag mats, so a little more comfy. However, you won’t find me leaping out of the sleeping bag and doing exercises as soon as I wake in the morning before heading off to the photo pit. Just no.

I will be at Sonisphere for 3 days. That means 3 outfits right? Ladies? 😉 well, what if I wake up and I’m not in the mood to wear said days outfit. And I don’t have anything else to hand? I’m actually taking 5 outfit combos and putting them in a vacuum bag to save space. Don’t worry, I won’t be taking a vacuum cleaner or reversible air pump with me, you can buy roll up vacuum bags. Neat! Keep rollin’ rollin’…. (yes Limp Bizkit are playing on Friday and I can’t wait!)
Also, do the same with your bed pillow. There’s nothing like your own pillow so why not take it? Packed 75% (so they say) less size than before.

Lastly, the 8 most important beauty products that I have to take to the festival.

1. Decleor Aroma Lisse 2-in-1 dark circle & eye wrinkle eraser. Also instantly removes puffy morning eyes. Works amazingly at home, this will be my new festival best friend!

2. Maybelline Baby Lips ‘Peach Kiss’ – MegaBeth called me a chav when I bought this. I don’t follow trends at all, I just tried it and thought it was really moisturising. I’m hoping that the sun stays with us to the other side of the weekend, so I will need this, plus it has a colour to it which will mean I won’t have to take a lip gloss too.

3. L’Occitane Shea Butter hand cream. This goes everywhere with me. Always.

4. James Brown ‘Hair Revive Dry Shampoo’ – will try and avoid those pesky showers, I’m gonna use this *pow pow* like a sex machine 😉

5. Soltan Factor 50+ Suncare Spray – less messy than a cream, and I have fair skin so deffo don’t want to sport the lobster look.

6. Carex Moisture Plus Hand Sanitiser – You can’t go to a festival without this…ever.

7. Pretty Quik – Instant Nail Polish Remover. For a change of nail colour. Believe it or not, I just don’t wear black nail polish!

8. Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Facial Wipes – nice travel size pack which means you don’t have to take big bottles of C,T &M with you and still keep up your skin routine.

So, if I’m walking around on the Sunday before Metallica’s set looking like I stayed in a hotel for the past 2 nights, then I’ve won.

See you on the other side!
