Last month, Epica came to London to do press for their album ‘The Quantum Enigma‘ – which is due for release on May 2nd. I was booked to shoot for their Terrorizer interview. The setting? To go to one of London’s tourist hotspots and shoot Simone and Mark in a political style. Definitely something that you wouldn’t normally see in any of their other pictures! Parliament Square was the location of choice – as you can imagine – it was very very busy. Being there with my camera equipment could have also been quite tricky, but it ended up going very well and I was pleased with the results. It was very very cold that day (unlike the sunshine and light winds that the forecasters predicted). This image didn’t make the feature, so I can share it with you – one of my favourites. Simone and Mark hadn’t seen Big Ben or the Houses of Parliament before, so they really enjoyed walking around the shoot location too. We found a phone box and did a few fun pictures that you will also see in the Magazine. Simone found the classic London red phone box, and we laughed as it reminded […]
Not literally of course! Sorry to keep you all waiting for this blog post, I have lots of things I’m working on at the moment and I can’t wait to share them with you. When Simone came to the UK for all the press bits and also IMATS – my previous blog post, we also had a bit of fun at mine doing a photo shoot. Jessica-Leigh has a tea pot toy that sings various songs, talks and makes noises, it’s one of her favourites. Simone liked this as much as a real good English cup of tea. She also met one of my cats – Gibson, who is a bit of a camera lover and poses on cue. He loves fusses, especially from ladies. MegaBeth joined in too, and swapped jackets for a silly picture. A Slipknot fan in disguise? haha. We did some serious fashion style pics as well as being silly. This is my favourite. It was a good time until the snow came and Simone’s flight got cancelled. So we ended up having a movie marathon and cooking a roast dinner. I guess it could have been worse ;) Mx
Hello and Happy New Year! Hope you all enjoyed the festivities and celebrations! Just before Christmas I ran a giveaway competition – a chance to win a signed poster of Simone Simons who was Miss December in the Dolls ‘n’ Divas 2011 Calendar. I was overwhelmed with all your entries – well into the hundreds and all with the right answer ( I think maybe I will make it a bit more difficult next time ;) ). Thank you all for entering! The correct answer was of course Kathleen Turner, who did the speaking voice for Jessica Rabbit in the movie ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’. The lucky winner is Doug Yauch from Minnesota, USA. Your poster is on its way with warm wishes from Simone! Congratulations! — Just before I log off for the day, I wanted to let you in on some of the fun that we had in making the Calendar. A couple of collages of the ‘best bits’ once the serious work was out of the way….mostly! You can click on the images to view our silly faces larger. There will be a couple more pieces of news to come soon from the 2011 Dolls ‘n’ Divas […]
A little into December but definitely worth the wait! Simone Simons is the hottie this month and a great way to end the year on the Dolls ‘n’ Divas Calendar. My inspiration for this shoot was Jessica Rabbit from the movie ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’, with Simone’s striking red hair it was perfect! Using a still from the movie, we created a scene for the shoot too Simone wore a red satin halter dress from Vivien of Holloway and her was hair styled by Marino Lambrix. Along with singing and writing for her band Epica, Simone loves all things photography, fashion and makeup related too – she did her own makeup for the calendar shoot. You can check out her personal blog here. To celebrate the end of the year I’m having a giveaway! You can win an A2 poster print (measures 420mm x 594mm) signed by Simone – it will be the image of Simone sitting on the green sofa mentioned in the above post. To enter: Answer the following question: Who did the speaking voice of Jessica Rabbit in ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’? Please send your answers to email@example.com with ‘Simone Giveaway‘ in your subject header. Entries must […]
Back in July I posted some fan art of my work with sweet friend Simone Simons, singer from Epica. I’ve had some more sent through varying from digital art, paintings, and pencil drawings. This one I just HAD to share with you. I love the simplicity and detail that just ordinary pencil can bring to an image. By Paz Patterer from Argentina. Thanks Paz!! Epica have just announced some dates for their 2012 tour with more to come! Mx
Just a little update to let you all know my latest published news… REVOLVER Magazine, (USA based rock magazine) has printed one of my pictures full page in their latest issue out this week – their yearly Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock issue. You may all recognise Simone Simons from the shoot I did earlier this year, with Simone wearing jewellery from the Jane Doe Collection by Seventh Circle Artworks. Alongside that, REVOLVER have a Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock 2012 Calendar which is available for sale now. Another photo I took of Simone features in their Calendar – she is centre spread, the month of June. Order your Calendar here. Each month has dates marked with important birthdays and events in the Rock Music world. Both of these items are the first major pieces of publication I’ve had in the States so far and I’m super stoked! Lastly, with the release of Machine Head’s album ‘Unto the Locust’, Terrorizer Magazine printed full page my picture of Robb Flynn. Machine Head have just started touring on this album and I’m very much looking forward to catching up with the guys here in December at their London show!
