Cristina Scabbia Giveaway Winner

Yesterday on my Facebook Page, I announced the winner of the signed print set of Cristina Scabbia. I was completely bowled over – with a total of 859 correct entries! And I think my mail server felt the same way, when it actually crashed because of the en-mass entries. The correct answer for the name of the ring designed by Cristina Scabbia with Seventh Circle Artworks is I’m No Saint. Entries from Australia, Philippines, United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Argentina, Canada, UK, Romania, Brazil, Poland, Germany…. the list goes on and on! And your sweet messages about my photography meant a lot too. The prints are now on their way to Doreen Teel in Iowa U.S.A, and I will update this post with a photo of her with her giveaway prize. Thank you again again for all your entries! I hope to run another giveaway soon. Don’t forget that Seventh Circle Artworks are giving my readers a special 10% discount on the ‘I’m No Saint Ring. Competition: Cristina Scabbia Prints

I’m excited to be running another giveaway competiton! This time, I’ve teamed up with Seventh Circle Artworks and Cristina Scabbia to run a print giveaway! After a very successful launch of the ‘I’m No Saint’ ring in December 2013, which Cristina designed along with Alex Palmer – owner of Seventh Circle Artworks, London. Fans around the world have ordered their very own ‘Cri design’ and it’s been great to see so many pictures posted of fans with theirs. I shot the promo pictures surrounding the launch and release, and have a fab competition for you to enter to win a set of prints! On Cristina’s first meeting with Alex, we shot with some of the pieces already in the SCA collection (as well as posing with our favourite prop ‘Dave the Skull’). Cristina later signed three prints when we met to do the promos for her own launch. One for Alex, one for myself, and the third – for our giveaway competition. So there are only three of these in existence! To win this set of prints… One signed A4 print, along with two of the images from Cristina’s promotion (one 8″x10″, and one 7″x5″), please answer the following question. […]

An hour with Jon & Stu from Iced Earth

Back in October of last year, I went to Terrorizer HQ to shoot with Jon Schaffer and Stu Block from Iced Earth. The pics, for an interview piece in the Magazine. Now that the interview is published I can share with you some more pictures and fun memories from the shoot. Well, to start with, they didn’t actually know they were having a shoot! Jon and Stu arrived wrapped up like it was arctic outside! So we improvised with no change of clothing or styling products. To be honest, they didn’t need it as their personalities spoke louder than anything else. They recounted crazy press stories; one, where they literally bounced on the beds at hotel rooms while being interviewed. Their ‘Virate’ patches intrigued me. The explanation? They are Viking Pirates – Virates. Apparently, only the guys on their crew have the privilege of such an honour. Two women have ‘Vagirate’ patches (needs no explanation). These women are particularly cool and hang with the band backstage. “Not like that!!” Stu insisted, “These women have earned the patches, with no prenetration involved! They’re just really cool people who dig the music”. Jon looked like a wrestler, apparently he gets that a […]

Live: Trivium, London UK

Trivium and Killswitch Engage recently finished the UK leg of their co-headline tour. It was a stonking great sold-out show in London! I shot a few bits for Terrorizer Magazine, which you will see printed very soon. In the meantime, here’s some pics that you won’t see anywhere else… Mx

I’m No Saint – Cristina Scabbia

Cristina Scabbia launched her first custom ring with Seventh Circle Artworks on Monday this week. A very exciting project that’s been in the making for just over one year. I went along to the Roundhouse in London to shoot some promos backstage at the Lacuna Coil and Paradise Lost show. The opening band, Katatonia, were already on stage, the venue filling up and as we went backstage, Cristina was wrapping up in an interview. Alex presented Cristina with her ring – the first time she would see it in person. The reaction was priceless as she jumped up and down with excitement, and ran around showing everyone in the band! Alex said that it was so good to see such a reaction of something he’s worked on, especially since all meetings were over email and Skype – due to such busy schedules and the fact Cristina lives in Italy. For the shoot, the only place we could find in the busy backstage area was in corner of the corridoor, by a fire escape! The raw brickwork actually fit really well with the style we were after, and with Cristina wearing the most snuggliest jumper for her interviews before we arrived, […]

Give me Fuel, Give me Fire

In September, I worked at the London Tattoo Convention for Terrorizer Magazine. Covering the darker side of the arts and tattooing over the weekend, for a feature printed in the magazine I blogged about a couple of weeks ago. Performance wise, I was also very intrigued by the Fuel Girls so I hung about for a bit to shoot them in between interviews. I have worked with a couple of ex-Fuel Girls in other shoots, but never seen them perform their routine in full. From pole dancing, ariel hoop, ballet, and urban dance to fire breathing and sword routines – it was all incredibly inspiring and sometimes breathtaking in places. Not to mention really beautiful tattoos too! I also really liked Cervena Fox’s ‘Queen of the Damned’ performance. Some of the pics were in the magazine, this one didn’t make it in and is one of my favourites. I highly recommend that you catch the Fuel Girls if you see they are in your area. Mx

My Terrorizer Cover!

Ahhhh, so I can finally share my excitement (and interrupt what would have been my next post) with you all, to announce that I have my first Terrorizer Magazine Cover! A few weeks ago, I shot the Napalm/Bodom show in London. With my lighting gear in tow, I set off earlier in the day and had a shoot with Shane Embury from Napalm Death for the cover. This issue would also be for the 20 Year Anniversary of the magazine – damn cool! I did the shoot against a white backdrop so that it could then have a montage of Terrorizer covers in the background (by Steve Brown) from the last 20 years. Quite surreal, seeing it in my local WHSmith’s yesterday. Shane was brilliant to work with, especially in the time frame we had to do the shoot. There were many great and strong images from the set, and I’m stoked with the one that they chose for the cover. There was also a lot of champagne, whiskey, rum, and delicious Honey Jack Daniel’s consumed these past couple of  days, as the magazine hit the stores on my Birthday! DOUBLE celebrations. And a Pirate Party to boot! (As you […]

November Published Update

What a busy month! There’s still some very exciting stuff coming up too. In the winter, the rock/metal industry gets very busy with shows etc in the run up to the Christmas break. The lastest issue of Terrorizer features my pictures from The International London Tattoo Convention, Brutal Truth, Grave Miasma and the Hammer-Smashed Festival that Extreme Noise Terror and Brutal Truth headlined. It was BT’s only UK show and it was insane! I got knocked flying with my external flash going one way, I went the other way, someone caught me, I was drenched in beer and my dignity just about intact. Literally BRUTAL! Thank goodness for my camera strap as it could have been an expensive accident. Anyway, here are the pages from the mag. I’m also going to put another blog post up shortly with my pictures of the performers at The International London Tattoo Convention, as there were loads of great pictures that the magazine didn’t choose, and I’d love to share them with you. The pics I took back in August of Iron Maiden are still appearing in the press. On the back cover of Bass Guitar Magazine this month you will see my photograph of […]
